Illustration has been Elina's calling from a very early age. She used draw on her notebooks at school and loved art classes the most. After high school, however, she went to study economics in Finland's leading business school Helsinki School of Economics and graduated with a Master of Science in Economics degree. She did a minor subject in Academy of Fine Arts studying painting and rediscovered her passion for illustration. This encouraged Elina to apply to one of the world's leading illustration BA courses at the University College Falmouth in England, from which she graduated in summer 2008 with honours.

Today Elina is based in London area and works as a professional illustrator. Elina is inspired by textiles of the past eras, Victorian buildings and clean nature. Her work is a combination of colours, textures and conceptual thinking. She is particularly excited about adding traditional patterns and ornaments to her illustrations. The illustrations are done mostly digitally, although sometimes handmade collage and painted elements can be added to the images too.
